Summary
BMW Group's Regensburg plant has implemented a pilot project called “GenAI4Q” to enhance quality control in vehicle assembly using artificial intelligence. This AI system generates customized inspection checklists for each of the approximately 1,400 vehicles produced daily, accommodating the unique configurations of different models. By analyzing both vehicle specifications and real-time production data, the AI determines the necessary inspection scope and sequence, which is then presented to workers via a user-friendly smartphone app. The app supports intuitive data entry, including voice recognition and transcription features. This initiative was developed in collaboration with Munich-based startup Manex AI (formerly Datagon AI).
